ABSOLUTE BLISS

Day5:

Lohajung to Bekaltal This is the first day of trekking with a 5-hour-long trek. We will start from Lohajung and pass through a snaky trail of a forest and then reach Mandoli. At Mandoli, we refill our water bottles and take our first break. As we trek further on, we come across ascent curves through the snow and then the confluence of two mountain rivers, Kali and Pindari. The Kali valley seems like a green oasis amidst the snow-covered mountain peaks. Once we trek further, we stumble upon a huddle of mud huts. We will find a grove of Rhododendron there, growing through the snow. Crossing this point, we move on to the landmark spot of this trek, a bridge over a stream, covered in snow! On the other side of the bridge, we reach Begum, a nestling rest point on the slopes, overlooking a vast expanse of pasturelands. From here, we will cross two streams and reach the beautiful Bekaltal lake. The gleaming lake is partially frozen during the winters. We will be camping near the Khopdaliya lake, surrounded by oak forest!

Day 6:

Bekaltal to Brahmatal base camp We will trek through thick cover of Oak and Rhododendron, over steep slopes before we reach the open meadows of Telandi. You will be thrilled to see Telandi converted into a vast snow blanket. The meadow rolls till 11,500 Ft- the highest point, after which it descends to Brahmatal. We spot a small temple with flying yellow flags. Brahmatal lake is just 500 metres from this temple. The soaring peaks of Trishul, Nanda Ghunti and others of the Great Himalayas can be spotted far across the sky. We will be camping 500 meters from the lake, falling in love with the flora and fauna of the place. Note: Carry at least 2-3 litres of water on today’s trek as there are no water points.
